Oh yes, the trend cycles have come full circle and Gen Z has brought back some fan favorites from the Y2K era. We are starting to see bright and funky colors such as our hot pinks back. The ugg boots who I thought would never be a trend again are coming out of hibernation this winter! Playing on the sense of nostalgia has been a big part of the new trend and we could see how this would be the case since most of the media we consume was doing the same. Our movies and shows are either bringing back old-time favorites such as the gossip girl reboot, sex and the city, even animated movies having their live-action films! No matter what generation you're a part of you'll begin to see the youthful aesthetic hit the racks. So throw away those skinny jeans and let us turn back to baggy mom jeans. Here is my top 5 must haves for this year.
Topmost Notable Fashion Trends Resurfacing
1. Platform Shoes

We are starting strong and going for the platform shoes! This is one of my favorite fashion trends because it makes me way taller than I am. You can almost find every brand imaginable come out with a new platform shoe. Some of the most popular ones being converse at the moment. If you were able to get your hands on one of these when they were first released, what's it like being God's favorite? I had to wait months before I could find them in stores or online without the words sold out mocking me.
2. Flared Jeans

Another fan favorite would be flared jeans! Ohh yeahhh bell bottoms are back. These are amazingly comfortable and can spice up any outfit. Many influencers have been spotted with Corduroy flared pants which is a fall must-have. You'll know you're doing it right when Gen Z compliments you for your pants. Just a quick reminder the wider the jean the better!
3. Plaid

All things plaid! Whether that's a sweater vest, skirt or flannel you know you'll be rocking the Clueless fashion. Wouldn't Cher be so proud!? If you can find a plaid matching set you've just struck gold! The 2021-2022 school year is not ready for all these girls walking around like Cher in the halls.
4. Baguette Bags

2 words- baguette bags. Oh my goodness aren't these beautiful? This was huge back in the '90s and I'm so glad they're back. Big bags were never my thing and I dreaded lugging around a bunch of stuff on my shoulder so these are a perfect way in combatting that problem. You can find these just about anywhere but I suggest going to urban outfitter which is the stomping ground for all things Gen Z. Or you can just look around your mom's closet and see if you can find a vintage one.
5. Chain Necklace

For the last must-have staple piece, you need to have a chain necklace and layering is key. There are a variety of sellers with great deals on these jewelry favs but I suggest heading over to Adina's Jewelry. Who knew there could be so many styles for chain necklaces?? No matter which one you end up choosing they'll make any outfit just a bit edgier.
No matter which fashion trend you decide to incorporate into your wardrobe if it brings you nostalgia you're probably doing it right so don't be afraid to add new things! These were my top five picks for this trend and I can't wait to see what's to come. Till next time my beautiful people. xoxo
